Darren grew up in central Pennsylvania and moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado where he graduated with a BA in Environmental Conservation. He moved on to the Lake Tahoe region where he spent 9 years managing ski shops, taking some time to ski for filmmakers in California, Alaska and South America. In doing so, he also became involved extensively in the production process of filmmaking. He returned to school to receive an MA in International Environmental Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in the fall of 2004. In addition to working with Coldstream Creative, Darren is also deeply involved in increasing the use of green building concepts in new construction and developing policies and tools to insure sustainable growth in the mountain communities of the Sierra.
